Monocotyledons and Dicotyledons
An angiospermic plant can be distinguished in to two based on the number of cotyledons:
Monocotyledons:
Monocotyledons bear seeds which have a single cotyledon or seed leaf.
Example: Palms, bamboos, grasses, sugar cane, rice, wheat and corn are some monocotyledons.
Dicotyledons:
The seeds of dicotyledons like grams, peas, beans, sunflower and rose have two cotyledons.
